Had a lazy tuesday with a craving for Baked Potato smothered with sour cream….
and as much as I would’ve been happy with chicken filling, I know that my hubby is sick of chicken so off I went after work to the butcher to get half a kg of cubed steak – I love when half the job is done for me.
1/2 kg cubed steak
1 small onion
salt – to taste
pepper – to taste
1 fresh chopped chilli
1/2 tsp mustard powder
2 tblsp vinegar
1/2 tsp meat tenderiser
1 tsp barbeque spice
fresh chopped coriander (for garnish)
3 tblsp Steers peri-peri sauce
1/2 cup fresh cream
3 tblsp tomato sauce
1 tblsp worcestershire sauce
2 tblsp garlic sauce
1 tsp powdered ginger
1 tsp dhana jeero (cumin and coriander seeds, ground)
What did I do:
Toss in the steak cubes in a little flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Keep ready
Add olive oil to your saucepan/skillet, saute the onions until they are ever so slightly browned on medium heat.
Now add floured cubeds of steak and seal.
While the steak is in the pan, add the rest of the ingredients to a bowl and mix well.
When the steak is slightly browned, add the mixture, close the lid and leave to simmer until done, checking and turning a few times.
Add chopped coriander and serve with sour cream smothered baked potatoes
*variation – can be served with chips/salad/roti/pita etc.
