My good friend Bibi Fathima well known for her facebook page Cookingwithbibi asked me to team up with her for the LG Home Chef Competition at the SA Good Food and Wine Show two weekends ago.
It was my very first competition experience and apart from the initial nervousness, I absolutely loved it. The adrenaline is exciting and addictive.

Having had the pleasure of being selected as a finalist to yet another Cooking Competition and this time partnering with another renowned foodie like myself (Fehmida Jordaan aka FEHMZ) was beyond enthralling and is an experience definitely …worth sharing…..Last Month, Fehmida and I were selected along with 32 other hopeful teams to partake in the LG Home Cook Championships that was held at …the Good Food & Wine Show – Johannesburg. The competition sets the platform for all Home Cooks to partake in a 4 day cook off to ultimately crown the Home Cook Team that will represent SA at the Amateur Cooking Competition titled: LG Life Taste Good 2012 Championship which will be hosted in Dubai this year. The competition showcased some amazing and unique recipes that were a good reflection of our rich and diverse South African Heritage.Fehmida and I submitted our dish that was created especially for the event: A “Hinted Rooibos and Apricot Chicken served over a crisp Vegetable Rosti” Having made semi finals on Saturday, both Fehmida and I were blissfully overjoyed for having coming so far, and having the pleasure of being judged but such esteem celebrity judges (ADAM LIAW) kept us competitive and looking to take the WIN…With not making the finals on Monday, one would imagine both Fehmida and I to be somewhat despondent, but this is not the case…. We might have not made it to the final 3, but our passion and drive sure surpasses the disappointment….The amazing experience allowed us to Network with the follow contestants, judges and LG personnel not to mention granted us free access to SA Biggest Food Show (A FOODIE’S SHOPPING HEAVEN)…. And that in a nutshell is the fun we had! it’s most definitely something I would do again!
