I was 41 and a half weeks pregnant and 36 years old having a routine check on the baby’s heartbeat on a calm Monday thinking I would just have to wait a few more days and the baby would drop and I’d be able to give birth naturally. Apparently not.
The doctor refused to let me wait one minute longer and wheeled me into theatre so that MK and I could enter parenthood as soon as humanly possible.
It was a whirlwind, I don’t know if I was fully prepared or ready for it to happen so quickly and it was slightly traumatic, but my first glimpse of her and I was sobbing as loudly as she was bawling. I became a mom at around 3pm on Monday, the 28th of December 2015 through emergency c-section.
Umaymah Jordaan arrived into the world. Alhamdulillah.
